He may have been the Jno barton, private in Capt. Elihu Hall's Company, C ol. Elisha Williams' Foot Regiment, 25 Aug. to 21 Oct. 1747 (Coll. Conn.H ist Sec., 15.157) Mr Voge identified our John barton with the signer o f an association oath in Amenia in 1775 (Reed, Hist. of Amenia, 56) and w ith the "John Bartoc", of Dutchess, who according to a manuscript note fo und at the N.Y. Gen & Biogr. Soc., m. 18 March 1772 Zilpah Knapp of Oblon g.
