The youngest son of Joseph Barton. He is wrongly claimed as the loyalis t Roger Barton by Mrs Margaret Alberta Barton McLean in her book, "Roge r Barton's Kinsmen" (1940). He was born about 1730, living 28 Dec 1795 . In April 1763, When of Nine Partners, he married in Suffield, Conn., H annah Norton, Born ghere 18 June 1739, DAughter of Thomas and Elizabeth ( Sikes) Norton who were married in Suffield 28 April 1737. The Roger Bart on was a grantor in a Suffiedl deed of 1767 and a grantee in one at Salis bury, Conn., in February 1781.An Extant receipt (now owned by Allan B. Wi lliams, as I am told by Mr. Paul A. Barton, LaCrosse, Wis.) proves Roge r Barton's Presence in Salisbury on 28 July 1790, When the loyalist Roge r Barton was surely in New Brunswick. In 1791 the former was living at o r near Falls Village, near Canaan, Conn., and at CAnaan on 28 Dec. 1795 W hen he deeded land to Moses Row, The last known record.
